Hey lady, why don’t ya focus on your kid?

While my husband ran into the bank today, I sat in the car and listened to the BBC news. There’s trouble in Barundi, the announcer said. And more trouble in Libya and Afghanistan. I switched the station to classic rock.

My new granddaughter arrived tonight. Just wait till her two-year-old brother finds out!

We got a pretty neat phone call this evening. My son said that he and his wife were on their way to the hospital. It was time for baby number two to make her appearance.

My daughter-in-law’s mom met them at the hospital and took Jude, their two-and-a-half year-old, to her home for the night. Fortunately, there’s lots of love to go around in a pinch.

Confessions of a Chile Addict: I Weaned My Babies onto Salsa!!

Here’s the truth: My children were weaned right from the breast onto green chile. They’d sit in their cute little high chairs, point at the bowl of salsa on the table and grunt, “Unh, unh!” And anyone with half a brain knows “unh, unh” means “want something.”

So around 18 months, I figured it was time. The rest of the family dipped. Why shouldn’t they?

Besides, I thought it was great for hand-eye coordination.
